《不怕死》描写了一位美国植物学家（罗克饰）受聘在旧金山中国城稽查绑票贩毒集团的故事，片中出现了诸多中国人形象，然这些形象多为形貌猥琐之辈，女为小脚，男抽鸦片，干着贩毒、偷窃、抢劫、绑票等等勾当，尤其以贩卖鸦片的情节为多，贩毒机关就设在唐人街中国人开的花店里。片中还有这样的镜头，罗克出现在一群小脚华人妇女群中，扭住一个戴瓜皮帽的华人老头的小辫子，并且戏弄他的长指甲……
